My Words and words of other parents about this journey…

k p tAt Diagnosis:
Terrifying remembrance... not particularly coherent... stumbling thru... happened so fast... we couldn't wait... so afraid… painful remembering…

The Journey…
My 10 year old called it a storm. I am not sure
if he is referring only to the tumor or to our life
since the tumor…

A complete life-altering situation for the child,
the parents and the siblings.

Left alone to make immediate decisions that will
forever change your child.

Surgery…chemotherapy…radiation, continuous trials of chemo, stability…fear of subsequent progression, endless pokes…anxieties and fears, cognitive problems, learning disabilities, diminished growth, early or delayed puberty, compromised endocrine function, behavioral and emotional problems, seizures…loss of vision and hearing….slurring of speech, balance and gait problems, poor hand/eye coordination, short-term memory problems…

Many children will win their battle against this disease but  in the end will lose themselves to the devastating aftermath of the treatment itself.
